We didn’t set out to build software. We set out to fix what’s broken about running a music school.

Opus1.io started as one school owner’s answer to spreadsheets, sticky notes, and software that wasn’t built for the way music schools actually work. Today, it’s the platform a thousand more schools run on.

FROM OUR FOUNDER, SAM LELLOUCHE

I ran a music school for years before I built Opus1. Every tool we tried was either built for gyms, dance studios, or generic small businesses — none of them spoke our language. So we built the thing we wished existed.

Sam spent over a decade running a performing arts school in the Bay Area — handling enrollment, payroll, recitals, parent emails, and everything in between. The frustration of cobbling together five different tools to do one job became the design brief for Opus1. Today, his job is making sure the platform stays as obsessed with the day-to-day reality of school owners as he once was.

What drives us

More than a mission statement.
A working philosophy.

We don’t just define what we stand for, we put it to work. Our mission, vision, and values guide how we think, how we build, and how we hire.

Our Mission

Give every music school the operating system it deserves.

To empower music and performing arts schools with a modern, all-in-one platform that streamlines scheduling, billing, communications, and operations, so educators can focus on what truly matters: teaching and inspiring students.

Our Vision

The default platform powering performing arts education.

To become the world’s leading software partner for performing arts educators, transforming how schools operate, grow, and connect with their communities through innovation and purpose-built technology.

Our Values · Five things we hire and ship by

The principles behind every decision we make.

01 · Team

No Rockstars

We hire teammates, not heroes. The best work here happens when nobody’s worried about who gets the credit.

02 · Curiosity

We Explore

Curiosity is a job requirement. We ask why three times, prototype things we’re not sure about, and stay restless.

03 · Bias for action

We Make it Happen

Ideas are easy; shipping is hard. We close loops, hit dates, and treat momentum as a feature, not an afterthought.

04 · Honesty

Open & Real

We say the thing. Direct feedback, real conversations, no internal politics. It’s faster, and it’s kinder long-term.

05 · Purpose

Passion for the Arts

This isn’t a generic SaaS company. We care about music and the people teaching it, and you can hear it in everything we build.

Leadership

The people behind the platform.

Our team of nine has run schools, taught lessons, and performed on stage, or spent years listening closely to the owners who have. That mix keeps our decisions grounded in what actually happens in a studio, not just what looks good in a product demo.

Inside Opus1

A window into the team.

We’re remote-first and globally distributed, working across time zones to build the platform. We still find plenty to laugh about together, at offsites, at our virtual monthly events, and everywhere in between.

Life at Opus1

We show up for each other, too.

Every month, the People team runs a program designed to keep us connected, healthy, and a little weird in the best way.

We’re hiring

If any of this sounds like the team you’ve been looking for…

We post every open role on the careers page, along with the leveling, comp range, and what success looks like in the first 90 days.

One More Thing

Built by people who’ve sat in your chair. For people still sitting in it.

Every line of code, every support reply, every decision we make traces back to one question: does this help a school owner spend less time on admin and more time on what they got into this for?
